Waiting for Dinner

I broke out some oil pastels to keep Junior busy while I made dinner last night.

We're working on some fine-motor skills stuff - one of the biggies being a proper pencil grasp. He has a tendency to hold crayons and pencils with his whole fist, so we've been breaking all of them in half to make them smaller - which forces him to use his fingers. The pastels are naturally smaller in size than most things he writes with, so they were perfect for this kind of exercise.

It was his first time using them and he loved how "soft" they were.

We still have lots of work to do in this area, but I love when he can (unknowingly) work on something and have fun at the same time.

You do understand that when he becomes a teenager, you're in DEEP DEEP trouble for posting this picture. ;O)
